“Warner Leisure Hotels have worked with Carters Flooring for a number of years and were an obvious choice to partner on our newest major development at Heythrop Park, overall a £50M refurbishment bringing this beautiful Historic building alive with new restaurants, lounges and entertainment spaces.
Carters worked along with a team of designers and consultants to deliver this amazing project throughout 2022, the hotel opened in September 2022.”
Our Operations Director, Chris Carter was the lead project manager for Heythrop Park and he talks to us about his experience installing the flooring in Warner Leisure’s flagship hotel in the Cotswolds.
“Taking on this project for Warner Leisure hotels, a company renowned for presenting customers with no less than 15 high specification, luxurious adult only hotels, we were filled with excitement at the array of different, intricate, and complex floor finishes that were to be installed at Heythrop Hall. The building itself is awe inspiring, dating back to the 1700’s when it was first constructed and nestling within 440 acres of mature woodland steeped in history. Being Warner’s flagship hotel, this was no exception. This included the highest quality flooring finishes and components from the Amtico Signature range, Plusfloor, Newhey Carpets, F.ball adhesives, Ege carpets, CAT Carpet Accessories and Harlequin Rubber Dancefloors just to name a few.
Working in collaboration with Design LSM, we needed to ensure no detail was left untouched and any variations, however big or small throughout the project were achieved, without any detriment to the final Heythrop vision.
One of the biggest tasks on this project was preparation of the subfloors inside this exquisite 17th century Manor House, over 12 tonnes of latex had to be hand mixed and laid by hand to get everything running flush and to get the highest quality finish for the floor covering as possible. Using the highest quality self-levelling latexes from F.ball & Co, and utilising their experience, we were able to achieve our clients wishes.
Supplying and installing over 6500m2 of quality flooring, it was a beautiful and seamless blend of Amtico Signature Herringbone features and walkways, Basket Weaves, Blonde oak parquet rooms, and an abundance of feature borders, feature carpet seating areas, solid brass stair nosings and transition strips throughout. Full custom theatre carpet installs, stunning rubber dancefloors all brought seamlessly together using CAT Low profile solid brass trims, eliminating any height difference between any area or different floor covering producing a clean modern look which just oozed class. As you take a walk around this beautiful building room to room, seeing all the flooring blending effortlessly together, it really made me proud to have been there from start to finish and to watch this vision grow from a set of drawings into the finished article.”
